GB/T 36276

China’s national standard for lithium-ion batteries in electrical energy storage, covering cells and modules: electrical performance, environmental adaptability, durability and safety tests such as crush, drop, short circuit, insulation withstand and adiabatic temperature rise. The 2023 edition has applied since July 2024 and adds requirements for liquid-cooled modules.

Example

Stationary, industrial and product standards: an example situation

A cell-level test does not establish fire performance or commissioning requirements for a complete installation.

Read GB/T 36276 alongside Accelerating rate calorimetry in this context. A test in which a cell sits in an adiabatic chamber that follows its temperature, so any self-heating is not lost to the surroundings. It measures the onset temperature, the self-heating rate and the temperature at which runaway becomes unstoppable.
