IEC 62619

The safety standard for secondary lithium cells and batteries in industrial applications — stationary storage, forklifts, rail and marine — covering cell abuse tests plus battery-system functions such as overcharge and thermal control. It is the industrial counterpart of IEC 62133 for portable and IEC 62660 for vehicles. [1]

Example

Stationary, industrial and product standards: an example situation

A cell-level test does not establish fire performance or commissioning requirements for a complete installation.

Read IEC 62619 alongside Conformity assessment and CE marking in this context. The procedure by which a manufacturer shows a battery meets the EU Battery Regulation — safety, performance, durability and labelling — before affixing the CE mark. For EV and industrial batteries a notified body is involved; the Regulation replaces the Low Voltage Directive route the old rules used.
