IEEE 1625 and IEEE 1725

IEEE standards for rechargeable batteries in mobile devices, chosen by pack layout: IEEE 1725 for a single cell or cells only in parallel, as in phones, and IEEE 1625 for packs with cells in series, as in laptops. They treat cell, pack, host device and charger as one system, and underpin CTIA battery certification.

Example

Stationary, industrial and product standards: an example situation

A cell-level test does not establish fire performance or commissioning requirements for a complete installation.

Read IEEE 1625 and IEEE 1725 alongside Charger in this context. The power electronics that convert mains or DC supply into the controlled current and voltage a battery needs. For lithium-ion it runs the CC-CV profile within the limits the BMS communicates, and stops rather than floats when the cell is full.
