EN 62040-1

The European adoption of IEC 62040-1, the safety standard for uninterruptible power systems with an AC output and an energy storage device — usually a battery behind a DC link — on low-voltage networks up to 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC. The battery room or cabinet itself also falls under IEC 62485-2.

Example

Stationary, industrial and product standards: an example situation

A cell-level test does not establish fire performance or commissioning requirements for a complete installation.

Read EN 62040-1 alongside IEC 62485 in this context. The installation standard for secondary batteries and battery installations: ventilation, protection against electric shock, and the layout of battery rooms. Part 2 covers stationary batteries, part 3 traction batteries for industrial trucks.
