Electric light commercial vehicle

A battery-electric van or pickup of up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight, category N1 in Europe, used for parcel delivery and trades. Packs of about 50–110 kWh suit predictable urban routes and overnight depot charging, but payload is tight: every kilogram of battery is a kilogram less of goods.

Example

Applications and market: an example situation

20 kWh total energy and a ten-second 100 kW peak constrain different design aspects.

Read Electric light commercial vehicle alongside Depot charging in this context. Charging a fleet of buses or trucks at the depot, usually overnight at 50–150 kW per vehicle, which keeps cell stress low and lets an energy-management system sequence the chargers against the site’s grid connection.
