Islanding
Part of the network, such as a house with solar and a battery, staying energised while disconnected from the main grid. Intentional islanding, behind a transfer switch with a grid-forming inverter, provides backup power; unintentional islanding endangers line workers, so IEEE 1547 requires inverters to detect it and cease energising the grid within two seconds.

Example
Charging infrastructure: an example situation
A 100 kW model request does not establish real voltage, current, connector or negotiation compatibility.
Read Islanding alongside Inverter in this context. The power electronics that turn the battery’s DC into AC for a motor or the grid, and back again for charging. In stationary storage it is called the power conversion system and its rating in kW or MW sets the system’s power independently of the battery’s energy.

This overview identifies the components to use. Follow the example in Lemonergy for their connections and settings.
- Set outage time, load and reserve.
- Compare reserve with departure target.
Example. An ideal 10 kWh usable budget supplies 3 kW for 3.33 h before losses and limits.
Observe. Reserve can hold while departure target is unmet.
No islanding switches, smart-panel circuits or protection coordination are simulated.
