Doctor-blade coating
Spreading slurry by drawing it under a fixed blade, so the gap between blade edge and foil sets the wet thickness. Simple and cheap, it is the standard way to coat electrode sheets in the laboratory; production lines meter the slurry through a slot die instead, for tighter thickness control at speed.

Example
Manufacturing: an example situation
An electrode can meet coating mass targets but fail adhesion or moisture checks later.
Read Doctor-blade coating alongside Areal loading in this context. How much active material, or capacity, an electrode carries per square centimetre of foil, typically 2–5 mAh/cm². Higher loading raises energy density but lengthens the ion path, which limits fast charging.
