Slot die
A precision coating head that extrudes slurry through a narrow slot onto the foil. It sets the coating width and thickness by pump rate and line speed, and can coat in intermittent patches to leave bare foil for tabs. [1]
Example
Manufacturing: an example situation
An electrode can meet coating mass targets but fail adhesion or moisture checks later.
Read Slot die alongside Areal loading in this context. How much active material, or capacity, an electrode carries per square centimetre of foil, typically 2–5 mAh/cm². Higher loading raises energy density but lengthens the ion path, which limits fast charging.
