Damp heat test

Keeping a cell, module or pack warm and very humid, steadily or in cycles, to bring out corrosion, seal leaks and condensation that lower insulation resistance. The common cyclic version, IEC 60068-2-30, alternates between about 25 °C and 40 or 55 °C at over 90 % relative humidity in 24-hour cycles for several days.

Example

Testing methods: an example situation

Resistance immediately after a current step can differ from a ten-second value because slower polarization contributes.

Read Damp heat test alongside Enclosure in this context. The sealed case that carries the modules, protects them in a crash, keeps water out to an IP67 rating or better and vents gas in a thermal event. In many cars it is a structural part of the body.
