Throughput limiting
Capping the energy a battery cycles per day or year so that lifetime throughput stays within the warranty allowance and degradation stays on plan. Grid-storage warranties are often written around one equivalent full cycle per day, so the energy management system weighs every extra megawatt-hour traded against the life it consumes.

Example
Applications and market: an example situation
20 kWh total energy and a ten-second 100 kW peak constrain different design aspects.
Read Throughput limiting alongside Cycle aging in this context. Degradation caused by charging and discharging: mechanical strain in the particles, fresh SEI on cracked surfaces and, at high rate or low temperature, lithium plating. It scales with charge throughput and grows with depth of discharge and C-rate.
