Sulfide electrolyte

The solid electrolyte family with the highest conductivity — argyrodites such as Li₆PS₅Cl match liquids, and LGPS exceeds them — and soft enough to be pressed rather than sintered. Their weakness is reaction with moisture, which releases hydrogen sulfide.

Also called
LPSCl, argyrodite, LGPS

Example

Electrolytes and separators: an example situation

Greater liquid uptake may improve wetting while changing mechanical behavior. Several properties define separator performance.

Read Sulfide electrolyte alongside Dry room in this context. A production room whose air is kept extremely dry — dew points around −30 °C to −60 °C — so that no moisture reaches the cell while the electrolyte goes in. Water would react with the salt LiPF₆ to form hydrofluoric acid.
