Semi-solid battery
A cell that uses a gel or a solid electrolyte together with a small amount of liquid to keep the interfaces conducting. It is a stepping stone between liquid and all-solid-state cells, and already ships in some vehicles.
Example
Other and emerging chemistries: an example situation
Two chemistries can meet the same energy target with different voltage windows and charge termination.
Read Semi-solid battery alongside Gel polymer electrolyte in this context. A polymer matrix swollen with liquid electrolyte, so the cell behaves like a liquid cell but does not leak. It is what most “lithium polymer” pouch cells actually contain, and what “semi-solid” cells use.
Use in Lemonergy
Do not carry lithium-ion assumptions into every chemistry.
This is a reference concept. No executable Lemonergy block has been verified for this term.
