Gel polymer electrolyte
A polymer matrix swollen with liquid electrolyte, so the cell behaves like a liquid cell but does not leak. It is what most “lithium polymer” pouch cells actually contain, and what “semi-solid” cells use.
Example
Electrolytes and separators: an example situation
Greater liquid uptake may improve wetting while changing mechanical behavior. Several properties define separator performance.
Read Gel polymer electrolyte alongside Electrolyte in this context. The ion-conducting medium between the electrodes. In a liquid-electrolyte cell it fills the pores of both electrodes and the separator, so it is not a separate structural layer.
Use in Lemonergy
