Rate capability test

Discharging a cell at a series of rates — C/10, C/3, 1C, 2C, 3C — from a full charge and recording the capacity delivered at each. The result is the rate-capability curve on a datasheet and the first sign of a transport limitation. [1]

Example

High current and usable capacity

At 5 A the ideal duration is 2 h; the chosen exponent gives 1.45 h (7.248 Ah delivered).

Not fitted cell data. A Ragone plot compares specific power and specific energy across measured or modeled conditions.
