Pulse cycle life

The number of short, high-current pulses a cell survives, as distinct from full charge–discharge cycles. A sheet that prints 20,000 pulse cycles beside a few thousand full cycles is counting much shallower events, so the two numbers cannot be compared or added.

Example

Capacity, energy, power and ratings: an example situation

5 Ah at 3.6 V gives 18 Wh nominally. Integrated measured terminal power may give a different result.

Read Pulse cycle life alongside Continuous and peak current in this context. The current a cell can supply indefinitely without exceeding its temperature limit, and the higher current it can supply for a stated few seconds. Peak ratings are only valid for the duration and starting temperature given.
