OCV test

Measuring the open-circuit voltage curve either by stepping through state of charge with long rests, or by a very slow C/25 charge and discharge whose average is taken as pseudo-OCV. The result is the OCV–SOC table a BMS depends on.

Also called
pseudo-OCV, C/25 discharge

Example

Voltage under load

5 A through 20 mΩ gives 0.1 V ohmic drop.

Chosen OCV curve; no chemistry calibration, hysteresis or voltage cutoff.

Explore the graph

Discharge current creates an ohmic drop below open-circuit voltage.
