Grid-to-vehicle

Power flowing from the grid into a vehicle’s battery — ordinary charging, named to contrast it with vehicle-to-grid. Managed grid-to-vehicle charging shifts and modulates this one-way flow to suit the grid, offering flexibility without the extra battery cycling or the bidirectional hardware that two-way systems need.

Abbreviation
G2V

Example

Charging infrastructure: an example situation

A 100 kW model request does not establish real voltage, current, connector or negotiation compatibility.

Read Grid-to-vehicle alongside Charger in this context. The power electronics that convert mains or DC supply into the controlled current and voltage a battery needs. For lithium-ion it runs the CC-CV profile within the limits the BMS communicates, and stops rather than floats when the cell is full.

Model signed grid exchange

Explicit battery and converter exchange average power.

Blocks to use

  1. Scheduled import / export and load policy

    Requests signed power

    Inputs & settings
    • mode
    • reserveSoc / targetSoc
    • loadPower, outage → command
  2. Bidirectional grid / load interface

    Converts battery and grid/load power

    Inputs & settings
    • importEfficiency / exportEfficiency
    • importLimitW / exportLimitW
    • Electrical ports p and n
  3. Battery with SOC-dependent OCV

Stores charge and supplies terminal voltage

    Inputs & settings
    • capacityAh
    • initialSoc
    • emptyVoltageV / fullVoltageV
    • resistanceOhm
    • Electrical ports p and n
  4. Electrical reference

    Sets zero potential

    Inputs & settings
    • Connect p to reference net

This overview identifies the components to use. Follow the example in Lemonergy for their connections and settings.

  1. Set export window and SOC reserve.
  2. Inspect power and energy.

Example. −5 kW requests export; +5 kW requests import. 5 kW exported at 95% efficiency needs about 5.26 kW battery power.

Observe. Reserve and converter limits can reduce export.

This excludes AC waveforms, synchronization, communications and certification.
