Vent

A scored area or a membrane in the cell can that opens at a set pressure, around ten to thirty bar for a cylindrical cell, so that gas escapes in a chosen direction instead of the case splitting at random.

Also called
burst disc, rupture disc

Example

Safety and abuse: an example situation

A low normal-load temperature does not demonstrate thermal-runaway containment.

Read Vent alongside Can in this context. The rigid metal case of a cylindrical or prismatic cell, usually nickel-plated steel or aluminium. It holds the stack under pressure, contains the electrolyte and, in a cylindrical cell, doubles as the negative terminal.

Use in Lemonergy
