Laser cutting

Cutting electrodes with a pulsed laser instead of a die, used for notching and for separating sheets. It changes shape without a new tool, at the cost of a heat-affected zone that must be kept small.

Example

Manufacturing: an example situation

An electrode can meet coating mass targets but fail adhesion or moisture checks later.

Read Laser cutting alongside Notching in this context. Cutting the tab shape and the electrode sheet outline from the slit strip, mechanically or by laser, before stacking. Laser notching has no tool wear but must avoid heat damage at the edge.
