Aging (production)
Storing freshly formed cells for days to weeks, at room or elevated temperature, so the SEI stabilises and any cell with a latent short reveals itself through voltage drop. Not to be confused with aging as degradation over a cell’s life. [1]
- Also called
- high-temperature aging, storage step
Example
Manufacturing: an example situation
An electrode can meet coating mass targets but fail adhesion or moisture checks later.
Read Aging (production) alongside Aging in this context. The gradual, irreversible change in a cell’s capacity, resistance and safety margins over time and use. It is the sum of many chemical and mechanical mechanisms, each driven by temperature, state of charge, current and cycle depth.
