Parameterisation

Measuring or fitting the numbers a model needs: OCV curves, diffusion coefficients, exchange current densities, thicknesses and porosities for a physics model, or resistances and time constants for a circuit model. It is usually most of the modelling effort.

Example

Transport and modelling: an example situation

The same concentration difference across 10 μm gives ten times the gradient across 100 μm; at equal D, first-law flux magnitude is ten times greater.

Read Parameterisation alongside Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in this context. Measuring a cell’s impedance across a range of frequencies, from kilohertz to millihertz, with a small alternating signal. The spectrum separates ohmic, interface and diffusion processes by their time scale and is read on a Nyquist plot.
