HALT and HASS

Two step-stress methods for electronics. HALT pushes prototypes through rising temperature, rapid thermal cycling and multi-axis vibration far beyond specification to find weak points and margins; HASS applies a gentler, proven fraction of those stresses to production units to catch manufacturing defects. Battery packs use them for BMS boards, connectors and solder joints.

Example

Testing methods: an example situation

Resistance immediately after a current step can differ from a ten-second value because slower polarization contributes.

Read HALT and HASS alongside End-of-line testing in this context. The final measurements on every finished cell — capacity, internal resistance and open-circuit voltage — used to reject faulty cells and sort good ones into matched grades.
